Envidata Team Improves Flight Safety by Certifying Drone Pilots

EnvidataID, Yogyakarta – Aviation safety is a crucial issue in the aviation industry, considering that human life safety is the main stake. Indonesia, as an archipelagic country with high aviation activity, continues to strive to improve its aviation safety standards. Indonesia already has a fairly comprehensive regulatory framework to regulate the aviation sector. Law Number 1 of 2009 concerning Aviation is the main legal basis, followed by various other implementing regulations.

Drone or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) flights have become increasingly popular in Indonesia. However, the use of drones must be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations to maintain flight safety. Standard operating procedures for drone flights are regulated in Ministerial Regulation No. 37 of 2020 concerning the Operation of Unmanned Aircraft in Airspace Served by Indonesia.

In December 2024, a team from PT Envidata Inovasi Indonesia (EnvidataID), namely Rohmat Kuslarsono, S.Kel, participated in the Drone Pilot Certification program. This series of programs is held online and offline. On the online occasion, certification participants are provided with materials related to aviation. Some online class materials related to supporting flight safety, especially drones, include:

  • Regulations that apply to Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SPUKTA).
  • Airspace Classification, Operational Requirements, Flight Operation Safety Zone, SPUKTA Flight Restrictions.
  • Aviation Weather Information and Weather Influence on SPUKTA Performance.
  • Aeronautical Decision Making & Risk Management.
  • Emergency Procedures in SPUKTA operations.
  • Aeronautical Decision Making & Risk Management.
  • Initial Flight Inspection and Maintenance Procedures of SPUKTA and others.

It is hoped that in this certification program, participants or drone pilots will be able to master flight procedures, thereby increasing safety and mastering drone operating procedures in airspace.

Offline class activities at GOR Klebengan Yogyakarta, December 7, 2024.

On the offline class occasion, participants face a practical test by flying a drone according to established procedures. Participants need to ensure that the pre-flight stage has met the requirements before flying the drone. While the instructor will give orders to the pilot or participant and several flight tasks to be assessed. Good grade standards are a requirement for participants to obtain a license as a drone pilot from the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia. This certification program is organized by the Indonesian Drone Pilot Association (APDI) which has been recognized by the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia as a national certification institution related to drone pilots.

EnvidataID is consistent in implementing occupational safety, so this drone pilot certification is a real action of our company to improve credibility and competence. Hopefully, our output products related to drones can be validated better and have a progressive impact on flight safety in particular. One of the services offered by EnvidataID is mapping using unmanned aircraft (drones) with photogrammetry techniques and topographic data output.
